Out of the Pan

Crepes? Pancakes? Waffles?
Yessss those are my favorites! Last week me and my uni friend went to have lunch in raffles city, and apparently UOB offers 1 for 1 savory crepes, so we decided to give it a try.. so here it is!

Norwegian Salmon Crepe

Out of the pan let us choose the crepe that we want, whether it is plain, wholemeal or tomato. Both me and friend chose tomato crepe.

At first, I thought the salmon was going to be fresh and fantastic. But the salmon crepe tasted to be quite dissatisfying. It doesn't taste as good as what I expected. There's nothing wrong with the taste of the crepe though. The tomato crepe tasted decent.

Kung Pao Chicken/ Schezwan Chicken

To be honest I don't really remember the name of this crepe. But this crepe tasted really nice! I highly recommended whoever wants to try out of the pan to order this menu. The schezwan sauce is very strong, and the aroma of the chicken smells really good. I don't regret trying this one! :)

Cedele

Cedele has always been my favorite place to hang out or to dine for brunch, lunch or even tea time.

I have been to Cedele for quite a few times but I didn't take picture on all occasions. Here some of the photos taken :

This is spring onion and mushroom pancake. I've never had any pancake filled with spring onion and mushroom in any restaurants in Singapore. So as a big fan of any kinds of pancake, I truly fell in love with this pancake.

This is chili crab pasta. I'm sure most of us who live in Singapore have tasted chili crab, but chili crab pasta? This one is another unique creation from cedele. However, I'm not a big fan of chili crab, so in my opinion, the taste is just okay. Not impressive.

The big breakfast. Few slices of bread (might be focaccia, walnut, sunflower, wholemeal), choice of egg (scrambled, fried), mushrooms, bacon and sausages with green salad. This portion is unbelieveably huge for me. I remember I didn't have anymeals throughout the day after having this for my brunch. I love the taste of their scrambled egg and sausages. Other than those two items, it's just ordinary.

Here comes my favorite main course, Rosemary Lemon Chicken. Have I told you that mushroom is my addiction other than chocolate? The side dish of this menu is a grilled big portobello mushroom. It tasted superb! I love the herb sauces they pour onto the top of the mushroom. The chicken also taste juicy and tender. This is perfect for me!

Rosti seabass. This is also yummmyyyyy! For those of you who are fish lover, I highly recommend you to try this. The grilled potatoes is just nice to fill your need for carbs and the grilled seabass really satisfy my appetite for the day. :)

Red Seafood Pasta. This is another pasta I've tried in Cedele. My comment: nothing extraordinary. The seafood is fresh and in generous portion. But taste wise, it's normal.

Here comes the dessert menu; Blueberry pancake topped with sea salt caramel ice cream. Again, I'm a big fan of pancake. I love the taste of the pancake and the ice cream. Sea salt caramel is one of Cedele's best selling ice cream. This is worth a try.

Banana Pancake topped with mango sorbet. This is another pancake menu that cedele offers. I personally prefer the blueberry pancake which I just mentioned above. Banana pancake is way too filling, and the taste of the sorbet is too sweet for me.

Warm brownie with blueberry cheesecake icecream. Yay here comes one of my favorite dessert! The brownie is just nice for dessert, it tasted chocolaty and warm. The blueberry cheesecake is unexpectedly nice. I can taste some cake crumble inside the ice cream.

Cedele's carrot cake. Cedele serves my favorite carrot cake of all time! The frozen cheese and the generous portion of walnut really adds up the taste of the carrot cake. This is a must try cake from cedele!

Actually I've tasted many Cedele's cakes but too bad I didn't take picture on most of them. I will definitely visit cedele again, and I promise to take picture of those foods and cakes I have :)

Wow such a long post, anyway enjoy these tempting pictures and enjoy your day!
ciao!!

Jewel Artisan Chocolate

Last week me and my friend went to Orchard Central to walk around and see some dresses on the 2nd floor. After walking for about 1 hour, we decided to look for a cozy place to relax and have some dessert. We went to Jewel - Artisan Chocolate.

We didn't order much that day because we were still feeling full after having a late lunch. So we only ordered one dessert menu and we are glad that it is very satisfying!

This chocolate lava cake is their signature dessert. It takes about 15-20 minutes of preparation. What I love about this cake is the texture, it is crunchy on the outside but the warm chocolate is melting on the inside. For you guys who are a chocolate addict, this is a must try menu!

Along with the chocolate cake, they also served one cup of ice cream paired with vanilla sauce. We are free to choose the flavor of the ice cream. There are 4 ice cream flavors; hazelnut chocolate, dark chocolate, orange sorbet or white chocolate with berries compote.

We choosed white choco with berries compote and we didn't regret that choice! The taste of the ice cream goes along very well with the taste of the warm chocolate lava.

The price of the cake is $10.60 , and this cake is just perfect to accompany you and your friend to enjoy your weekend :)

Tea Cosy @ Plaza Singapura

Last week I went to Plaza Singapura with my lovely housemate to have some snacks and chit-chat time. We didn't know where to go because it was a weekend and Orchard- Dhoby Ghaut is always too crowded during weekends. Then we decided to walk around first and just decide on the spot. And then we found out this place, Tea Cosy at PS' 5th floor.

The decoration was so cute, it was as if they are selling furniture, I love their cute decoration and ambience. :)

We didn't have any main course as we were not interested on having a big meals, and then we ordered cheesy baked mushroom. My comment about this appetizer is: SUPERB! :)) I love the amount of cheese they have in each mushroom. The size of their mushroom was not too big, some even are small. But because of that, I love this menu even more, it was just perfect for a tea time snacks!

The second menu that we ordered was Ebony and Ivory. This dessert menu is a 4 pieces little brownie topped with vanilla ice cream and with sprinkled walnuts.
There was nothing extraordinary with the taste of the brownie and the ice cream. The taste of the brownie would be better if they would heat it up. However, the servings was quite satisfying for 2 persons. It wasn't too small neither too much.

We had such a great quality time. We talked so much about life and I loved my weekends :)

Ristorante Bologna

Hello all,
I've not been publishing anything in the past 1 month. And now I guess I have few articles to be published.
April has always been good to me; my birthday falls on April 6th, other than that I'm counting down to my wedding day (yay! =) )

We went to Ristorante Bologna to celebrate my birthday
dinner.
Ristorante bologna is an Italian restaurant in Marina Mandarin hotel. They serve wide range of pasta and Italian main course. I didn't see if they're serving pizza because I didn't notice their pizza menu.

I love the lamb pasta, it doesn't taste like ordinary pasta :) The pasta was so chewy and I love the taste of the lamb meat.
However, I'd say the fish that I ordered wasn't as good as I expected. It was just too ordinary for a 5 stars hotel menu.

As for my birthday cake, Ristorante Bologna surprised me with their signature tiramisu cake. I'm not a big fan of a tiramisu cake, but I'd say their tiramisu worth my two thumbs :) love it!

The price of their pasta & mains range from $20-$40, while the price of their tiramisu is about $14-$15.

If somebody ask me whether I'd visit Ristorante Bologna again, there's no doubt that I definitely will!

The Lion King

Hellooo.. ;)

I've been wanting to post this for a few days, so here it is..

Last week me and Erick went to Marina Bay Sands Theater to watch The Lion King.
I've bought the tickets for quite a while. I guess I purchased those tickets on November which is already about 5 months. Some friends told me that the show is really worth to watch. I have always been a fan of musical, so I ended up buying those tickets few months before the show.

This is my first time watching a musical in MBS theater. In my opinion, I prefer esplanade's theater. I like their seating plan better than MBS because esplanade's are less high, hence if I'm buying the cheap ticket, I'd still be able to watch the show nicely.

The property of the musical was superb! I have never seen any musical in my life that could bring out the "feeling" of the scene. One of my favorite scene was when Simba is frustrated waiting for his father's "guidance" and then his father's image emerged from a water reflection. Woww I had a goosebumps!!

So guys if you want to watch the show n still hesitate to buy the ticket, I'm reassuring you that you won't regret each cents of your money to watch this fantastic musical. ;)

Aquamarine Marina Mandarin

We were having dinner at Aquamarine for Erick's birthday.
Aquamarine is actually a buffet restaurant specializing in fresh seafood and local food. But we were not there for the buffet dinner but the ala carte dinner.

The range of the menu was good; they serve western food and Singapore's local delights such as laksa, rendang or even curry fish head.

We ordered two main dishes; silver cod wrapped in pork bacon served with corn salad and roasted potato.

The taste of the fish was yummy and it is perfectly cooked. The portion of the food was quite decent, it wasn't small nor too big.

The other main dish that we ordered was gordon bleu chicken

Erick liked the taste of the crispy chicken. But personally I think the taste of the chicken was just ok. There wasn't anything special about it. But I certainly love the sauteed vegetables they served. It was so juicy :)

It was a lovely night for us to dine in Aquamarine. We had a chocolate cake for the celebration, unfortunately I didn't take any picture of the cake.

Happy birthday dearest Erick <3>

Last weekend I went to Banyan Tree Bintan to have a weekend getaways. The environment there was so green and relaxing. It is a perfect weekend for anybody who wish to get out of a hectic life in Singapore. There wasn't much to do there other than swimming, eating or relaxing in the midst of forest and beach. Hence we can forget the problems we have in our days.

xoxo,
Meryl

Valentine 2011

This is my 3rd valentine with my dear, and I have to admit that this is the best valentine in 3 years. =)

What's the real meaning of valentine's day? For me, it is to spread love not only to your bf/gf but also to your loved ones; your father, mother, siblings, friends.
So this year, I'm celebrating valentine's day not only with my beloved fiance, but also with my mom who was coincidentally in Singapore on valentine's day.

Fields Of Gold

Dearest Erick,
We'll be holding hand through the rest of our live.

Although I know life wouldn't always give us happiness,
but I'm sure when there is you beside me and I'm beside you,
the end of our path would be always in the fields of gold.

Cherish the Moments

In life, we often complain about the people, the moments or anything. But if you realize, time really flies. It's been almost 4 years since the first day I entered Singapore as a student. Life has been pretty good to me, there was no big obstacle for me.

My parents came here last week. One thing I can say is: I'm truly blessed to have them in my life. When I'm still in Jakarta, I don't really cherish the moments I have with my dad, mom and brother. But after spending few years in Singapore, I do realize that some moments are really meant to be cherished.

My brother is 5 years younger than me, he's a high school student in Jakarta. I remembered how we used to quarrel over trivial things when we were very young. But after time passed by, we started to enjoy every moment that we have to spend our family time together.
I'm surprised how he had grown up to be a man. He could give such a good advice to me whenever I have some little doubts. I didn't really expect that 4 years ago =)
Yea however, sibling would still be my sibling. Though he had grown so much, he's still my younger brother. We would still talk about those silly things that no one could ever understand. We'd laugh about stupid things happened to us or super silly jokes that only us think that it is funny =D
