Holiday Mood

Today is the 11th of December, which means it is exactly two weeks to Christmas. I'm currently enjoying the Christmas decoration anywhere in Singapore. The lovely lights and Christmas trees in Orchard Road, city hall and other city areas.

On the other hand, I also keep on thinking on those beautiful white Christmas in Europe. Hopefully next year I'll have a white Christmas with my hubby =)
Imagine that you'll walk in a thick snow holding hands together with a thick coat. Wouldn't it be a romantic moment?

In the meantime, I'm currently enjoying classic Christmas songs from Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby. Although it sounds so old, but those classical Christmas songs surely flies my feeling to those white and warm Christmas in Europe :)

Celebrations!

It's been more than a month since I wrote my last post.
There have been many things happened in my life in this month and most of them are lovely moments. =)
Well, here are some photos which I captured during those lovely moments..

This photo was taken about two weeks ago when I had my final presentation in MDIS. Finally, after my 3 years effort, I managed to finish my courses on time, without any delay. I thank God for that =)

Then after that, we went to celebrate and have lunch together with our classmates.

I'm feeling grateful to have them as my classmates, they are a bunch of lovely girls who are helpful, fun and easy going =) I'll miss you guys - Franciska, Martiny, Fanie, Karen, Viera, Nicole and also Vinni (she's in the picture above)

After celebrating my final presentation with my friends, it's time for me to have dinner with my lovely fiance ;)

We had dinner in Chatterbox Mandarin Orchard, and surely we didn't forget to order their famous chicken rice. Hmm.. Although it is marketed as the most expensive chicken rice in Singapore, I don't think that the taste worth the price though. It tasted very similar to those chicken rice sold in food court. However their serving is quite generous. Anyway, despite the taste and the price, it's my celebration, so I'm still very happy :)

There's always a room for dessert for us, we headed on to Cedele at Wheelock Place to snack.

Cedele's pancake is one of the best pancake in Singapore. I rarely find any pancake that smells so good and taste so yummy. Other than pancake, I'm also a fan of Cedele's carrot cake. Well, who can resist the crunchy walnut and frozen cheese on top of the cake ? :p

November has been one of the busiest month in my study life; I need to finish my final year project, prepare my final year presentation, and I also need to fight for my final exams. It was exhausting, stressing and tiring. But after conquering those fights, I think all the effort was worth it ;)

Well, after having those wonderful moments, shouldn't I be even more grateful for the coming of Christmas? :) Can't wait to experience the warmth and happiness of Christmas with my family in Singapore..

Vergel & Clint 's Bday

Happy Birthday to both Clint & Vergel! They are having their birthday on the same month, so why don't we celebrate it together? :)

It's my first time to visit Modesto's and try their pizza. I'd say the food is really good, it is different with pizzas in other places.

Enjoy these tempting pictures!

I love this appetizer. It is very unique. They are rock melon combined with pork parma ham! uniquely delicious! :)

Here comes the main dishes!
This is calzone pizza. Again, the pizza is really unique! The pizza is wrapped, and it looks like curry puff. I'd say the taste was ok, it was a little bit too cheesy for me. But it is worth the try.

Here comes my favorite pizza! Salmon!
The taste of the salmon was so strong that I can't get enough of this! For those of you who are salmon lovers, you should definitely come to this place and try the salmon pizza :)

Other than those two main dishes, we also ordered black squid ink pasta and chicken sausages pizza. I forgot to take those pictures because I was too busy enjoying my salmon pizza :p

And lastly, Happy birthday to Vergel and Clint :)

Old Songs

Lately my head has been filled with so many old songs. Honestly, sometimes old songs are much better than current songs. I find it to be more meaningful and lovely. :)
Well, you can blame me for being conservative in everything, including the kind of songs that I like hehe.

Yesterday when I was listening to an old song, the song brought my memory back to my highschool life. Do you guys agree that when you listen to a song, it could bring you back to your past times?
After listing to the song, I had a thought that "we should embrace every moment we have in life, even the smallest and the worst ones"

When you turn your head behind and see what have happened to you all your life, there must be many things that you remember. Those things might be your achievement, happiness, your first love, your friendship, or even your tears, the moment when you lose someone you love deeply, or even failure. But remember, after all these years, will you be who you are now if it is not because of those laughs and tears moments?

"Cherish all you have in the past, you'll never know what God has planned for your future"

Wild Honey

These two weeks were super nice. Last week I met up with my high school friend whom I haven't met for ages.

We decided to have brunch in Wild Honey in Mandarin Gallery. The queue was super long that we have to wait more than one hour to wait. Actually we were already very hungry, but since the queue was very long, it made us even more curious to try out their brunch.

The price was rather pricey, a portion of brunch would cost around $22. However, the ambiance was perfectly nice for a weekend chit-chat, so this place is recommended if you are going to meet up with your pals and spend your time there :)

Yemen Breakfast - taste like prata, served with boiled egg

Sweet Breakfast - french toast served with cranberry, mascarpone and maple sauce

Life These Days

Today is the 7th of October,
it means that its 7 months to our wedding! :)

These months would definitely be the busiest months for me. I need to submit my final year project by end of this November and during that time, I also should prepare for our pre-wedding photo shoots. Although I may be very busy preparing everything at the same time, but I'm sure this would be one of the best moment in my life.

Although getting married is not about the glamorous celebration, gorgeous dress, and wonderful photos; I'm sure that those parts are the most waited part of our life. Imagine I'll be trying lots of pretty dresses and ask my fiance which one fits me the best, it would be a very sweet moment for the two of us. Other than that, I am super excited with our pre-wedding shoots, it would be once in a life time moment.

I really can't wait to finish and submit my project as soon as possible and focus on preparing my once-in-a-lifetime moment :)

Engaged? Why Not? =)

Lately many people have been asking me how could I got engaged in a very young age. The most common question that people ask me is how do you know that he is going to be the one in your life? Are you sure about this?

Well, I have heard tonnes of questions on that. Sometimes it annoys me because I think this is my life, I have my own rights to choose ANY decisions for me. I believe that I'm mature enough to decide whatever I want in my life.

Flashing back to few months ago, My fiance Erick, proposed me during his birthday. It was so surprising that he bought me a ring and proposed me during a special dinner. When I said "yes" to his question, I am very sure that I want to be married to him, however I'm still not sure about the timing. After few times talking about this, I'm very sure that this is the right decision. I'm fine to be married at such a young age.

Many people asked me why I'm so sure that he would be the one in my life because I'm still young, I still may choose other guy which is probably better than him. My answer to their questions has always been:
"After few years spending our time together, I've had many ups and downs. He knows my positive side and negative side, and the most important is we accept each other truly. I believe that as a couple, we have shared many many many things, and we are very open to each other. I also believe that there is no point looking for the "best prince" for my life, looking for a probably better one, because nobody is perfect. Moreover I believe that charm or attractiveness in a guy is very superficial. A guy might seems perfect; smart, charming, successful, gentle. But that is so superficial for me, I may not know whether he has a negative side which doesn't suit me well. For that reason, I have no point in looking for a Mr "better" anymore."

Although there were few of my friends questioned my decision, I am very blessed that my families and my best friends are very supportive towards my decision. This is my life, I make my own decision, I gain my own benefit and I take my own risk.

Thank you so much guys for your love, support and wishes for my wedding.

Love,
Meryl

Spoiling Shopping Experience

Last week my mom came to Singapore and we had so much fun. I always enjoy spending time with my mom whenever I can, she's my mother, my listener and of course my best friend. I have to say that I am truly blessed that I've been given such a good mother. A very motherly, friendly, beautiful and charming mother. I have no words to describe how proud and happy I am to be her daughter.

Anyway, Whenever she's in Singapore, i always gain weight. She loves Singapore's snacks such as popiah, carrot cake, and mee siam. No wonder I would gain weight whenever she's here hehe.

I also would like to share what I just bought few days ago

Love love love this waterfall jacket! It looks gorgeous, and i can wear it anytime! I can wear it when I'm going shopping, having class or simply any occasion in a day :)

a Good Way to Start the Day :)

The sky was so dark this morning that it tempted me to go back to sleep again, unfortunately I can't sleep till too late. You may ask me why, but I also don't know the answer as I'm always wake up at 8 or 9.

I always have breakfast to start my day because it truly energize me for the rest of my day. Not only that, my breakfast should be healthy and fast :)

I'm a chocolate addict, so a cup of hot Milo and oatmeal never fail to start my day :)

Have a great day everybody!

You're the apple to my pie

Currently I'm so obsessed with this song

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jG7Nujp2YyI

The song sounds sooo sweet and the lyrics are too cute!

You can be the peanut butter to my jelly
You can be the butterflies I feel in my belly
You can be the captain and I can be your first mate
You can be the chills that I feel on our first date

You can be the hero and I can be your side kick
You can be the tear that I cry if we ever split
You can be the rain from the cloud when it's stormin'
Or you can be the sun when it shines in the mornin'

Don't know if I could ever be
Without you cause boy you complete me
And in time I know that we'll both see
That we're all we need

Cause you're the apple to my pie
You're the straw to my berry
You're the smoke to my high
And you're the one I wanna marry

Cause your the one for me (for me)
And I'm the one for you (for you)
You take the both of us (of us)
And we're the perfect two

We're the perfect two
We're the perfect two
Baby me and you
We're the perfect two

This is Why I Love Mr Sandler's Movie

Hey guys,
What is your favorite movie? :)

Let me share about my favorite movie.
I'm not a movie addict person, but most of favorite movies are more to romantic comedy or any movie that lures me with its beautiful scenery. Here are some of my favorite movies of all time: A Walk to Remember, Chasing Liberty, The Phantom of the Opera, Mr Deeds and 50 first dates.

Adam Sandler is one of my favorite actor. Well he is certainly not the most handsome actor, but I like his character whenever he act in the movies, I love his innocent expression and the way he speaks. Adam's movies are not only comedies, but the movies also have beautiful meaning inside.

The first time I fell in love with his movie was because of 50 first dates. The idea behind the movie is amazing, it is funny and yet truly romantic.
After watching this movie, I began to look for Sandler's other movies. Out of Happy Madison's 25 movies, I've watched 17 movies. :)
The reason why I fell in love with his movies is that he always added "family factor" inside the movie. He often emphasize the importance of friendship, family and love. Although some of his movies are a little bit racist, he can always bring up jokes that don't hurt that particular races. Moreover, the ending of the movies always have a beautiful meaning.

Here are some of my favorite movies which acted by Adam Sandler:

Have a great weekend guys!

Hubalicious with Chef Bobby Chinn :)

Hello guys,

I'm so happy that I have the opportunity to meet celebrity chef Bobby Chinn. Usually, I only watch him cooking in Discovery Travel and Adventure Channel. I like the way he cooks on TV, he is unique because while cooking, he loves to tell jokes and funny stuffs. It is such a rare moment that I got a chance to meet him in person.

Here are some photos taken during the event:

In the event, Bobby prepared an appetizer for the audience. It was a middle east appetizer. The taste was very unique, I have never tasted such appetizer before. The appetizer was made from pomegranate, eggplant and walnut. It was soft, creamy and yet crunchy at the same time.
Other than the appetizer, the other dishes were prepared by the hotel's chef.

The main dish was grilled lamb with Egyptian herb. The Egyptian herb tasted like briyani.

Finally, this was the dessert:

After having 3 course dinner, we got the chance to take a picture with Bobby and also took an autograph of him :)

It was a very pleasurable moment to meet him in person. He was funny, lively and such a great chef indeed :)

Bali Trip

Last week I went to Bali with Erick and his family.
It was a short holiday but it was fun ;)

Here are some photos on our trip:

We went to Taman Safari in Bali. At first, I didn't expect the Safari would be that good. I have to say that the zoo was one of the best zoos that I've been. The ambiance was nice, the animals are more complete than in Taman Safari Cisarua. I have to say that the zoo is very well maintained. It is clean, green, and it is nicely decorated.

We took a picture with this little white tiger.

Have you guys ever heard of this very famous Ibu Oka's Babi Guling (Suckling Pig) ? Suckling Pig is a famous traditional balinese food.
Since I'm not a big fam of pork,I have never tried babi guling before. We decided to try this famous babi guling in Ubud.

Personally, I don't think that babi guling is that nice. For me, it was too oily and smelly. It is funny that this Babi guling tasted like chicken. I don't know how they prepared the dishes because I can't barely see the difference between chicken meat and pork in this babi guling.

We also went to this stunningly beautiful Tanah Lot Temple. The scenery was super breathtaking! =)

Well, that's all about my short trip to Bali. =)
It might be short, but I went to two new places that I've never been before; Bali Safari and Babi Guling Ibu Oka. Thus, I'm happy :)

good night guys
xoxo
